ECHO Tools

Integrated e-Commerce solution custom built on WooCommerce and Elasticsearch

ECHO Tools WooCommerce website

Power tools, do we need to say more? From ECHO Tools humble beginnings in Japan with a simple hand-held crop duster, they have grown to become a technological leader and well-respected global brand. They mainly rely on garden centres and other retail channels for their sales, but needed a online product catalogue with a click and reserve system built in.

ECHO Tools mobile website

The challenge

Struggling with a legacy system, and needing to re-invent their online sales channel, we were challenged to create a new online presence capable of letting ECHO Tools customers find the right power tool, and buy it online for collection at their nearest reseller. Stock had to be pulled from a internal database, and orders had to be pushed back after online payment.

The solution

Using WooCommerce was the obvious choice as there was a need for good search engine indexing, a simple site search, good categorisation and filtering. The resellers are added, together with location coordinates, as a searchable custom post type, and the details are updated from an internal ECHO system using a bespoke data importer.

  • Responsive Web Design and Custom WordPress theme
  • Elasticsearch integration indexing all data for better search and filtering
  • Social media integration
  • Custom post types for resellers, powered by a custom data importer

With the new website we also introduced Elasticsearch for both the site search and facet filtering functions, and completely overhauled the user experience and web design.
