Web design is what we at Oxford based Electric Studio do as a core service and is usually where most projects start. Before doing the visually appealing designs, we consider the target audience, the nature of products and services being offered as well as incorporating good usability practices. Once we have a very clear picture of our client is wanting to achieve, we create and design a flat image to show what a future website would look like. We also make sure that the design we have done are:

• Clearly and non-intrusively shows what your company do and has to offer
• Clearly shows the most important products and services in a prominent position
• The navigation must be clear, intuitive and easy to find, and stay in the same place for all pages
• Easy to find points of contact and offer multiple options if possible
• Using easy terms for all calls-to-action, E.G. "Add to basket", "Go to checkout", etc.
• Don't fill white space un-necessarily
• All text is inviting and easy to read
• We use a clear page structure with Header and Paragraph tags
• Make it easy to search engine optimise all pages
• That the designs are consistent for all pages, keeping navigation and key elements in the same place

All of this might sound really simple, but you'd be surprised by how many website's that fail on all points. A study by Carleton University in Ottawa revealed that it takes as little as 50 milliseconds for a visitor to a website to decide whether they like the website or not. So if your website isn't designed to its full potential, there is a real chance that you are loosing out on sales and trust from your current and future customers.
