KeywordsThe start of any online marketing campaign involving Search Engine Optimisation or targeted search-based advertising is Keyword Analysis. Keyword Analysis involves finding the best value words and phrases to target for Search engine Optimisation and ad placement, by determining words/phrases where there is little competition but a great deal of visitors.

If we can find words, which are searched for a great deal but return few results, we can concentrate our efforts on these less competitive areas. In short we're looking for "more bang for our buck ".

For example, the phrase "turkey holidays" might be searched for on www.google.com 100 times a day, and returns more than 484,000 results. Needless to say this is a very competitive area. Keyword Analysis might reveal that a resort specific phrase such as "altinel holidays " only returns 108 results but is still searched for 40 times a day. Obviously we can expect to spend a great deal less time and money achieving top position amongst 108 results, and we have the added benefit of better-targeted visitors to the site.
